Plans, Purpose, and Perfect Design
You know those moments when you're absolutely certain you can contribute something valuable? When you see someone else working on a project and think, "Hey, I could help with that!"
That's exactly where this story begins – in my parent's forever home kitchen, watching my brother-in-law B methodically lay out his tools for what should have been a straightforward installation.
B is our family's curtain rod hanging genius.
He always has a plan. He knows exactly what he's doing, down to the precise measurement of each mark on the wall.
But something strange happened that day.
Maybe it was the casual setting of the kitchen, or the deceptively simple nature of the task.
One by one, family members started chiming in with suggestions.
"Wouldn't it look better a little higher?"
"Are you sure that's level?"
"I read about this new hanging technique on Pinterest..."
I found myself caught up in it too, this sudden collective wisdom about curtain hanging. We clustered around, pointing and discussing, each convinced that our input was not just helpful but necessary.
– like we were all part of something bigger than a simple home improvement project.
Until we weren't.
This wasn't a group project.
It never had been.
I couldn't help but see the parallel to something much bigger – my relationship with God's plan for my life.
Oh how often I find myself crowding around, murmering, offering well-meaning but limited suggestions about how things should go?
Just like B had a complete vision for that curtain installation – understanding the structure of the walls, knowing the weight distribution needed, and having the right tools ready – God has a master plan that considers factors we can't even comprehend. And just as B knew exactly when he needed help (and when he didn't), God perfectly orchestrates our involvement in His plan.
Here's the beautiful truth: we do get to be part of God's plan.
But not as advisors or project managers – as beloved participants who are perfectly positioned within it.
For you, my dear reader – the entrepreneur riding the monthly waves of hormonal changes – this truth holds special significance.
Those moments when your body seems to be working against you, when your emotions feel like they're hijacking your carefully laid business plans? They're not glitches in the system. They're part of the intricate design.
Your body has an underlying rhythm, a natural cycle that's been masterfully designed.
Those days when you feel unstoppable, creative, and ready to conquer the world? Part of the plan.
Those other days when you want to burn it all down and start over? Also part of the plan.
The key isn't to fight against these cycles or to pretend they don't exist. It's not about forcing yourself to be consistently productive every day of the month. Instead, it's about recognizing that these patterns are part of your unique design – a design that, when understood and worked with rather than against, can lead to profound growth and fulfillment.
You might not always understand why certain seasons feel harder than others. But that doesn't mean the plan isn't perfect. It doesn't mean you're not exactly where you need to be.
So the next time you feel the urge to "help" God with His plans – to suggest a better timeline, a different path, or a more efficient process –
Remember that while we might not understand all the measurements and marks being made in our lives, we're part of something bigger than we can see.
And our role isn't to direct the project, but to trust the Master Craftsman who has designed every detail with perfect precision.
Trust the process. Trust the Plan. Trust the Planner.
